Manny Diaz Jr. Football: A Legacy of Coaching Excellence

Early Life and Education

Manny Diaz Jr. was born in Miami, Florida, on December 1, 1964. He attended Christopher Columbus High School, where he played football as a linebacker. After graduating from high school, Diaz attended Florida State University, where he played football as a walk-on and earned a degree in criminology.

Coaching Career

Diaz began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Florida State University in 1989. He then served as the defensive coordinator at Middle Tennessee State University from 1990 to 1993. In 1994, he joined the coaching staff at the University of Miami, where he served as the defensive coordinator for seven seasons.

In 2001, Diaz was hired as the head coach at Middle Tennessee State University. He led the Blue Raiders to three bowl games in four seasons, including the 2006 Motor City Bowl. In 2007, Diaz was hired as the defensive coordinator at the University of Texas. He helped the Longhorns win the 2009 BCS National Championship.

In 2011, Diaz was hired as the head coach at the University of Miami. He led the Hurricanes to two bowl games in three seasons, including the 2013 Russell Athletic Bowl. In 2015, Diaz was fired as the head coach at the University of Miami.

In 2016, Diaz was hired as the defensive coordinator at Florida State University. He helped the Seminoles win the 2017 Independence Bowl. In 2018, Diaz was hired as the head coach at the University of Miami.

Personal Life

Diaz is married to Angela Diaz. They have two children, a son named Manny III and a daughter named Angela.

Legacy

Manny Diaz Jr. is one of the most successful college football coaches in the country. He has won numerous awards, including the 2009 Broyles Award, which is given to the top assistant coach in college football.

Diaz is known for his aggressive and attacking defensive schemes. He has helped his teams to some of the best defensive performances in college football history. Diaz is also a respected recruiter. He has helped to bring in some of the top recruits in the country to his teams.
