Du Plessis controlled much of the fight but Adesanya hung tough and looked to be getting better as the fight progressed.

In the third round, Du Plessis was able to take Adesanya down and sink in a rear-naked choke, forcing Adesanya to tap out.

With the victory, Du Plessis retains his middleweight title and improves his record to 23-2.

Adesanya drops to 24-5 and will likely need to win a few fights before getting another title shot.
